Winnipeg Blues: The Week That Was / The Week Ahead

The Week That Was

Well the Blues officially opened up their regular season this past week, when the puck dropped on Friday night in front of over a thousand fans at the MTS Ice Plex.   The Selkirk Steelers took the game 4-3 in a shoot out, but to everyone in attendance, the talk was about the new facility, the new season, and calibre of the players in the MJHL.

One night later, the Blues and Steelers played game 2 of their home and home series in Selkirk, and once again the score ended 4-3 for Steelers.  It took overtime this time, but both teams put on a show for the fans on the opening weekend of the 2010/11 MJHL season.

The Week Ahead

A busy week for the Blues, who have 4 games this week, including 3 on home ice.   On Tuesday the Blues welcome the Winkler Flyers for their first visit to the Ice Plex.   Thursday the Portage Terriers come to town.  Saturday will see the Blues face the defending MJHL Champion Dauphin Kings for the first time this season, and on Sunday the Blues hit the road and head to Winkler to face the Flyers.

Puck drops at 7:30 for all games this week.
