We're only half way through the season, but the Winnipeg Blues are in the "must win" type of games.
On Sunday night, Winnipeg fell 6-4 to the Dauphin Kings at the MTS Ice Plex. That is the last time they'll play at home until January 14th. They'll be on the road for 10 straight, and it's safe to say they need more wins than losses on this road trip or they won't be seeing the post season.
The road trip got off to a tough start in Portage on Tuesday night, as the Blues were blanked 4-0 by the Terriers.
Brendan Harms led the way for Portage with a hat-trick, and Brett Martyniuk did what he could in net for the Blues, as Portage outshot Winnipeg 45-26.
On Wednesday night Winnipeg faced the Steinbach Pistons in a penalty filled affair in Steinbach.
The Pistons scored three powerplay goals in the first period, and seven times overall with the man advantage as they skated away with a 9-4 win.
Adam Stoykewych had a pair, while Brett Stovin and Paul Bonar both added singles in the loss.
The Blues went 1-9 on the powerplay, while Steinbach was 7-12.
The loss was Winnipegs fourth in a row, and 7th in their last eight games, and now sit in 6th in the Addison, two points behind fifth place Steinbach.
The Blues have two games left before the Christmas break. On Friday night they'll head to Neepawa to face the Natives, while on Sunday they travel to Winkler for a date with the Flyers.
