On Saturday night, the Winnipeg Blues season came to an end after being blanked by the Dauphin Kings 4-0.
It was an end to a frustrating season, but one that showed alot of great signs heading into next year.
The Blues started to play some good hockey near the end of the season, and for the players coming back next season, this year was definitely a good learning experience for alot of the players.
The Blues had twelve OTL's this season. That was tops in the league. Winning the close games is something every player needs to learn how to do, and heading into next season hopefully the players use this as a learning experience.
It was a tough start to the season as well, as Winnipeg dropped their first 8 games before getting their first win on October 1st against the Dauphin Kings.
Two of those losses were in a shootout, while another two were in overtime.
Inconsistency was also a problem for the Blues this season. Winnipeg didn't have a three game winning streak all season. And an eight game losing streak to start, and a seven game losing streak in the middle of the season was too much to come back from. But one thing you can't take away was the fact the players were out there giving it all they had.
For Blues fans, the future looks bright. Channing Bresianni showed some great signs as a 17 year old, and look for him to be a big player in the fold next season.
Jake Heisinger put up 36 points as an 18 year old this season, and will be a solid veteran coming back next season.
It was a disappointing season in terms of where the team finished, but promising for the team as they look ahead towards next season.
