The Winnipeg Blues have been playing better hockey as of late as they headed into their Friday night game against the Addison Division leading Selkirk Steelers.
And the Steelers showed why their at the top, as they dropped the Blues 5-2.
Selkirk held a 3-0 lead in the second period, but the Blues would add a pair of goals before the period was out.
Brett Stovin notched his 6th of the campaign, while Jeff Borse put home his team leading 18th.
That's as close as the Blues would come, with the Steelers adding 2 in the third, and Joey Rewucki would slam the door shut on Winnipeg the rest of the way, shoving aside 36 of 38 shots for the 5-2 win.
Blues netminder Charlie Pogue stopped 23 of 27 shots in his direction.
The two teams will meet up again tonight, this time at the MTS Ice Plex.
Puck drop is set for 7:30.
