The Winnipeg Blues scored three in the first period on and held on to beat the Steinbach Pistons 5-3 on Sunday night.
The Blues are starting to win the close games they didn't do earlier in the season and in turn have picked up 11 of a possible 14 points in their last seven games.
Jeff Borse had a 3 point night including a pair of goals. Jake Heisinger, Dylan Kelly and Jeremy Olynyk all lit the lamp for Winnipeg as well.
Brett Martyniuk stopped 16 of the 19 shots he faced in the win.
The Blues have a big week ahead. On Tuesday night they'll face the Winnipeg Saints who took the first 5 games the clubs played against each other this season, but the Blues have won the last two.
Then on Friday and Saturday night Winnipeg has a home and home with the Addison Division leading Selkirk Steelers.
Next home game for the Blues is Saturday night against the Steelers. Puck drop is set for 7:30.
