In the third game of a three game in three night stretch, the Winnipeg Blues fell to the Winkler Flyers 5-3 at the MTS Ice Plex.
After collecting seven of a possible eight points in their last four games, including dropping the Winnipeg Saints 5-3 on Saturday night, the Blues were looking to continue their strong play against the Flyers.
Things looked good early on as Jeremy Olynyk opened the scoring for Winnipeg on the powerplay, getting the puck behind Flyer netminder Reed Peters.
Winkler would tie things up and eventually take the lead on a pair of goals from Michael Wilgosh, giving the Flyers a 2-1 lead after one.
Both teams would exchange powerplay goals in the second. Connor Cleverely capitalized for the Blues while Matt Loopkey answered for Winkler.
In the third, Winkler scored early. Six seconds in to be exact on a goal from Jordan Neduzak.
Seth Ronberg would give Winkler a 5-2. Brett Stovin scored for Winnipeg to get the Blues within two, but that's as close as they'd come as the Flyers continued their dominance of Winnipeg this season, collecting their 7th win in seven games against the Blues 5-3.
Next up for Winnipeg is a home tilt against Swan Valley on Thursday night.
Puck drop is set for 7:30 at the MTS Ice Plex.
