Blues Top Pistons In Addison Division Tilt

What a game last night at the MTS Ice Plex.

Both the Steinbach Pistons and Winnipeg Blues exchanged goals all game long, before Adam Stoykewych would score the last goal in Overtime to give the Blues a 6-5 win.

The game certainly didn't look like it would be this high scoring as the Pistons were the only ones to find the back of the net in the opening period.

Tyler Lazuruk beat Brett Martyniuk with 15 seconds left in the period.

In the 2nd the gates opened up with 5 goals between the 2 teams.

Kyle Rous scored his first of 2 powerplay goals on the night early in the 2nd giving the Pistons a two goal lead.

Dylan Kelly would get the Blues within one notching his first of the season, as well as first as a Blue, and the score was 2-1.

Chris Williamson would regain the Pistons 2 goal lead, but the Blues would answer with two of their own before the period would end.

Stoykewych got the Blues rolling with a shorthanded marker, and with 27 seconds left in the period Riley Bengston would tie things up.

In the 3rd the scoring would continue.

Russell Trudeau regained the Pistons lead just over two minutes in.

Not to be outdone, the Blues came right back and Jason Gardiner picked up his league leading 12th goal of the season, and once again the teams were knotted.

Rous would score his second powerplay goal of the game to give Steinbach the lead once again, and the Blues would again answer the call as Evan Gravenor scored his 7th of the year, sending the teams to the extra frame.

Overtime and the shootout have not been kind for the Blues so far this season with 2 overtime losses and 3 shootout losses entering the game.  But they did have a big overtime win during the showcase against Portage Terriers the last time they were in overtime.

And they once again found a way to win as Stoykewych picked up his 2nd of the night and 6th of the season to improve the Blues record to 3-6-2-3 while the Pistons fall to 4-6-2-0.

Next action for the Blues is next Thursday when they'll host the Selkirk Steelers at the Ice Plex.

The Blues annual Dinner is coming up next Tuesday at Canad Inns Polo Park.  Guest Speaker is Jeremy Roenick.  Tickets are just 195 bucks and you know it's going to be a fantastic night.
