OCN Doubles Up Blues

Playing their third games in 3 days, the OCN Blizzard and Winnipeg Blues hooked up at the MTS Ice Plex in front of 175 fans on Sunday night.

And the Blizzard ended up skating away with a 4-2 win.

The Blues opened the scoring on the powerplay with Andrew Hewitt putting home his fourth of the season, and Winnipeg had the lead after the first period.

In the 2nd tempers would flare, as Dustin Bruyere and Dennis Restoule went head to head in a scrap.

Midway through the period Patrick Henderson would give the Blues a 2 goal lead, again on the powerplay.  Hewitt picked up an assist.

The Blizzard would get within one as Restoule would put the puck behind Brett Martyniuk on the powerplay.

It stayed that way until the third when Restoule would pick up his second of the game again on the powerplay, and even things up at 2.

And with less than 5 minutes to go Restoule would pick up the Gordie Howe hattrick as he set up T.J Constant, again on the powerplay, and the Blizzard would take the lead for the first time in the game.

And just over a minute later OCN would ice it when Spencer Brennan slipped the puck past Martyniuk, giving the Blizzard a 4-2 win, and keeping them undefeated in regulation this season (8-0-0-1)

The Blues have a few days off now until they're next action.   On Thursday night, the Blues will welcome the Steinbach Pistons to the Ice Plex.

Puck Drop is set for 7:30.
