The Winkler Flyers continued their dominance over Winnipeg last night, and collected their 4th straight win over the Blues 5-2 last night at the MTS Ice Plex.
There was no scoring in the first period, but in the second Winkler started to take the game over.
Jake Rombach opened the scoring early, 1:29 in to give the Flyers a 1-0 lead.
Sam Benson quickly made it 2-0, firing a shot past Brett Martyniuk just a 1:12 after Rombachs goal.
It would stay that way until late in the period when Matt Loopkey would score his first of a pair on the evening with only 21 seconds left, and give Winkler a three goal lead heading to the third.
The Blues looked to make a comeback, and needed a goal quick, and that's just what they got. Jeff Borse put home his 8th of the year, getting the Blues within 2.
It was short lived though, as 17 seconds later Jory Mullin would regain the 3 goal advantage for Winkler, once again taking the momentum away from Winnipeg.
Borse would get his second of the night late in the period, but it wouldn't be enough as Winkler left the Ice Plex with a 5-2 win.
With the loss, the Blues record now sits at 8-14-2-5, and sit in fifth in the Addison, just one point up on the Steinbach Pistons, who they'll face tonight. Puck drop is set for 7:30.
