Winkler Tops Blues

Yet another one goal loss for the Winnipeg Blues.

The Winkler Flyers beat the Blues for the third straight time this season, squeeking out a 5-4 win in Winkler.

It's the 8th time in 20 games this year that the Blues have lost by one.

The 2 teams traded a pair of goals in the first period, with Connor Cleverly netting both for the Blues, while Chapen Leblond and Jordan Neduzak found the back of the net for the Flyers.

The scoring didn't stop in the second period, with a total of 5 pucks finding it's way behind the netminders.

Dylan Kelly gave the Blues a 3-2 lead early in the period, but Winkler came back with a vengance, scoring 3 unanswered thanks to a pair of goals from Matt Loopkey, and a single by Taylor Wells, who's goal would turn out to be the winner.

Dustin Pearson got the Blues within one late in the second, scoring his 3rd of the year, but that's as close as the Blues would come as nobody lit the lamp in the third, and Winkler skated away with a 5-4 win.

The Blues record falls to 5-9-2-1, sitting in 5th place in the Addison division, while the Flyers improve to 11-6-1-1, and sit in 2nd in the Addison.

The Blues now head north for a pair of games this weekend.    On Friday night they'll face the 10-4-1-2 OCN Blizzard, then head to Swan Valley to face the 13-7-2-0 Stampeders on Saturday night.

Next home action for the Blues is Thursday, November 11th when they'll face the Selkirk Steelers at the Ice Plex.
